Easing into Autumn with your Summer Clothes

Posted on October 05 2014

Not all of us are ready to pack away all of our beloved summer clothes. Here are few tips to keep them in your closet for at least the next month or so:

  1. Pastels still work for fall! They are a great way to ease into the winter palette. Pastels are fall’s version of a “pop of color”. Top a dark outfit with a light pastel cardi and you’ve got a great outfit.

  2. Layers are a no brainer. Use your warm weather camis and tees as base layers. Top with longer sleeves and a lightweight jacket if needed. Try topping with a really fine knit. Let the base layer show for an edgier look.

  3. Midi skirts are just perfect for fall. Since they hit around your shins you’re OK to forgo tights at this point of the season. The same midi skirts you wore a few months ago are still perfectly fine to wear now, just pair with a light knit and jean jacket! Depending on the weather wear ankle boots or chunky heeled sandals.

  4. Dresses and Florals are still relevant. Floral prints were in style for summer and are IN style for fall. Pair with dark colors instead of light to transition to the autumn look. Your summer dresses, especially shirt dresses, are still perfectly fine to wear. Perhaps, put a button down or tee under your sleeveless dresses and pair with ankle boots.  Try buttoning your shirtdresses up to the neck and adding a statement necklace.
