Plus Size Celeb Style Envy: Michaela Pereira

Posted on January 13 2015

Reporting from behind the desk of CNN’s morning show New Day,  Michaela Pereira has been on our radar for sometime because of her simple yet chic sense of fashion. Michaela tends to keep her look minimalist with solid colored dresses in various shapes, rather than drawing her viewer’s eyes with multiple layers and prints. Although we are fans of layers, prints and even mixing prints, we’re not on TV or in a boardroom for that matter. Michaela’s simple, streamlined look is perfect for her job as a news anchor and is a great look for other full figured women looking for a great work style.

In an interview with More magazine Michaela spoke out on what worked for her body when it came to workplace fashion: “It was hard to hear, but a boss once told me, ‘You look good in solid-colored outfits.’ I was wearing a mishmash, and it was very distracting. I thought, Well, that makes sense. TV is a small box. Viewers don’t need these prints.”

This is an important point no matter whether you wear plus sizes or size 2. What you wear to work can sometimes speak for itself. It’s important to pick pieces that don’t distract your boss, your coworkers or your viewers (in Michaela’s case) from what you are trying to accomplish or communicate.

We love how Michaela accentuates her figure with wrap dresses and interesting necklines. She also isn’t scared to experiment with bright colors. We’d love to know more about where Michaela buys her dresses, but for now we found some similar options that would look great on those of us with plus size figures:
