5 Styling Musts for Figure Flattery

Posted on April 17 2015

1. Give Monochome a try.

Keeping tops and bottoms in the same hue lengthens your figure. Black is an obvious choice, especially for us New Yorkers, but this summer give all white a try. We love this sheer sweatshirt style top paired with casual white jeans.

2. Utilize V-Necks.

Some of us feel too busty to wear a deep V-Neck, but the slimming effect on your face & neck will make for a dramatic look. It narrows your waist by drawing the eye and the inverted triangle alludes to an hourglass figure. How many other reasons do you need to try this?

3. Wear a Longer Outer Layer.

This is a tip everyone can agree on. Thin women, thick women, short and tall, a longer outer layer slenderizes and lengthens. It also covers areas that you may want cover, while having a major cool factor. This spring try a light jacket, duster or long vest.

4. Pick Flared Skirts.

This styling tip is especially for those of us women who are bottom heavy or pear shaped. Though good for anyone, flared skirts or dresses will, especially flatter these figures. This silhouette tucks in at the smallest part of your waist and moves out nicely over your curves. We're obsessed with this red flared a-line and love this fun striped skater skirt.

5. Accessorize with a belt at the waist.

For all sizes, drawing attention to the narrowest part of your body is a game-changing tip. It automatically gives the appearance of an hourglass figure and create curves on an apple or rectangle shape. Try adding a belt to your dresses this spring or choosing rompers that allow for a belt. We love this neutrally colored elastic belt from Old Navy. The colors will compliment the pastels and florals of spring.
